Student Agreement

Our student journalists agree to the following and understand that:

• IYP is an educational programme.
• Participation in IYP is voluntary.
• All content created within the programme is reviewed and managed by IYP editors.
• I must behave respectfully at all times.
• I must follow school rules and policies.
• I must follow instructions from the Teacher Champion.
• I may not use the programme for political campaigning.
• I may not create harmful, defamatory, discriminatory, or knowingly false content.
• I must respect confidentiality and the privacy of others.

Safety Rules

I agree that:

• I will not conduct interviews without approval.
• I will not meet interviewees alone without teacher supervision.
• I will not share personal information of others without consent.
• I will report any safety concern immediately.
• I will not misuse equipment provided for the programme.

Discipline

I understand that:

• Breach of these rules may lead to removal from the programme.
• Serious misconduct may be reported to the school.
• This agreement does not replace the school’s official Code of Conduct.

Data Protection

I understand that my personal information will be used only for programme administration
and participation purposes in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act
(POPIA).
